Shadow Work

Après la mort de mon père, les couleurs ont disparu de ma palette. C’est le noir - mat, poudré, pailleté, en éclats de verre, en entrelacs de fils - qui a pris le pouvoir et qui pose des créatures effrayantes sur mes toiles couvertes d’ors et d’argent. Je tente d’immobiliser ces apparitions à coups de rafales d’épingles, de saisir l’insaisissable. Mais l’ombre est déjà sortie du cadre, je la vois partout.
After my father's death, the colours disappeared from my palette. It is black - matt, powdery, glittery, in glass shards, in intertwined threads - that has taken over and is putting scary creatures on my canvases covered in gold and silver. I try to stop these apparitions with gusts of pins, to seize the elusive. But the shadow has already come out of the frame, I see it everywhere.
